Join MFEE for a Game Show and FUNdraiser on Thursday, May 15!

The Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence is staging another town-wide event to spark community and competition! MFEE’s version of “Family Feud” will be a fun twist on a favorite game show – plus a great party – on Thursday, May 15.

Teams of five adults (21+) will make up each “family.” They’ll take part in fast-paced face-offs and lighting rounds to earn a spot on stage in the grand finale, all in support of the 6,000 students who attend Montclair Public Schools. The winning “family” earns major bragging rights and the gratitude of everyone who supports public education in our town.

Not in the competitive spirit? We hope you’ll join the party to cheer on the contestants and enjoy food, drinks and a silent auction. The event will take place from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at The Woman’s Club of Upper Montclair.

Together, each “family” team commits to raise a minimum of $2,500 for MFEE. The event also seeks support and sponsorship from local businesses.

“Like any supportive family, our public schools nurture students, offer a sense of belonging, and give them a strong foundation from which to grow,” said MFEE Executive Director Masiel Rodriquez-Vars. “At MFEE, we are serious about our mission to fuel excellence in public education, and we love to host seriously fun events to unite our community for that purpose.”

What is MFEE’s Family Feud?

MFEE will enlist up to 20 “family” teams of five to compete in a fast-paced game based on the TV game show “Family Feud.” (Contestants must be 21 years of age or older). Teams are eliminated as the game progresses, building to a climactic grand finale on stage.

What makes this event unique?

After five successful “Amazing FundRacer” events (a mini-version of the TV competition show Amazing Race), MFEE Board Co-President Bridget Placek dreamed up a game show concept to foster fun and community spirit.

“Game night is one of my very favorite ways to gather friends together, so when we thought about how to level up MFEE’s party – and this will be a PARTY – I instantly gravitated toward the friendly, silly, sometimes edgy fun of Family Feud! Cocktails, music and dancing, great company and a little game play? It’s a perfect night out, all in support of the public schools we love so much,” Placek said.

Over the years, more than 1,500 supporters of public education have participated in MFEE crowd-fundraising events as competitors, sponsors, and volunteers. MFEE events draw town council members, principals, police officers, teachers, parents, custodians, business owners, and alumni to compete for a good cause.

Do I need to be on a team to attend?

No! Adults 21+ are invited to join the party, which will feature food, drink and a silent auction with great prizes! Buy a party ticket to mix and mingle with friends, neighbors and supporters of public education, and cheer on our competitors.

What work does this event support?

Funds raised through this event will support MFEE’s ongoing efforts to promote equity, access, classroom innovation and teacher excellence, including:

  • After-school enrichment, tutoring and support for multilingual learners in grades K - 12;
